Description: An Urban Impaired Stream (UIS) is a stream that fails to meet Maine water quality standards because of effects of stormwater runoff from developed land. Depending on scope, a construction project within the direct watershed of a UIS may trigger compliance with the Maine Stormwater Law and required to address requirements of DEP Chapter 500 via the Memorandum of Agreement between DEP, MaineDOT and MTA. This layer is the direct watershed of Urban Impaired Streams in Maine. (Contact: Peter Newkirk peter.newkirk@maine.gov 207-592-1804)
